The station of VND 1,000 billion Phu Quoc airport has come into operation

On December 15, Vietnam Airport Corporation (ACV) put into operation the expansion project of Phu Quoc airport passenger terminal (Kien Giang province) and organized the 100 million passenger reception in 2018.

Phu Quoc Airport is the first international airport in Vietnam to be invested with 100% of its capital, from ACV's investment and development fund. This station expansion project has a total investment capital of VND 1,000 billion, contributing to increase the passenger terminal area from 24,325 m2 to 36,167 m2, with 4 air-tube bridges; increased from 4 to 12 and increased capacity from 2.65 million passengers / year to 4 million passengers / year.

In recent years, the number of passengers through Phu Quoc airport increased rapidly, from 27% -47% / year. If in 2013, Phu Quoc airport welcomed 685,000 visitors, by 2018, this figure reached 3.4 million visitors, exceeding the design capacity, including 400,000 international visitors.

On this occasion, Phu Quoc airport welcomed the 100 millionth passenger. Mr. Bui Ngoc Giang is the 100 millionth passenger (Vietnamese nationality), the 99,999,999 passenger is Mr. Kawse Hiroyuki (Japanese nationality) and the 100,000,001th passenger is Mr. Barnett Mark Andrew (American nationality). . All three passengers travel on Vietnam Airlines' VN-N618 numbered aircraft from Hanoi.

According to Deputy Minister of Transport Le Dinh Tho, ACV should continue to improve service quality, complete the cost of managing the public land of the port to actively invest and especially find strategic partners to improve Exploitation capacity at airports.

ACV is managing, investing and operating 22 airports across the country, including 9 international airports and 13 domestic airports.
